Formed in Manchester, England in 1982, Black and White Lovers (BAWL) were the coming together of two other bands, namely If Only and The Enigma both of which were members of the Manchester Musicians' Collective. Choosing the name 1000 Thrills before settling on BAWL.
The band comprised (left to right) Brendan Chesterton (Guitar), Martin Briars (Keyboards), Craig Winterburn (Drums), Kev Brady (Bass), Lee Wilkinson (Guitar) and Martin Tivnan (Vocals) Martin O'Brien and Chris Hyland also played drums along the way.
The band played in and around Manchester from 1982, releasing their one and only single Best Years of our Lives in 1985 before finally splitting in 1987.

This website has been put together with love and respect for the music of a great Manchester band I was lucky enough to be a part of. Thank you to all that have contributed audio, video, pictures and other resources. It is much appreciated. I hope you enjoy it.
