From the Cargo sessions, Offensive described the WW1 conditions of war in the trenches from the perspective of a soldier writing home to his mother. The lyrics of the song are in the style of the great war poet Wilfred Owen. The organ at the start is the famous Cargo Studios pump organ and the chaotic saxophone solo at the end is played by Gods Gift's Steve Edwards, which he did in one take.
