Passion of Mine was a song heavy in nostalgia, which was strange as we were all only in our early 20s at the time. In fact the song works better now after a gap of 30+ years. This song has recently been released on the 'Sound of Lemington Spa Vol 8' CD by Firestation Records of Berlin, Germany.
The single. BestYears of Our Lives was another nostalgia themed song. See version a year later at the International 2 with Lee on keyboards and Martin Briars on guitar. Also studio versions are in the BAWL original section of this site.
Same People was really the first of our Parisian sounding songs. More were to follow. The studio version of this song can be found in the BAWL Original section of this website.
This was our 'yuppy' era dream of achieving fame and fortune. Also some religious imagery thrown in.
Spirit of the Nation live at Berlin Manchester, Christmas 1985.
Halcyon Days was our soul number, alternately know as Loving Cup it had a distinct Motown feel and really was crying out for a brass and string arrangement. Great song nevertheless. This was a particularly shambolic version but you get the idea!
Stay was our nod to Spandau Ballet. There is a bit of soul in there too. A different version exists on Black and White Lovers - Legacy Vol 1, but this is the original.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams was our full on Christian pop song and the B side of our only single. If you detect a Latin American feel to the number, or perhaps vaguely recognise the tune from somewhere else, you may very well be right!

Same audio as above, different video edit.
Recorded at the sound check for the Berlin Christmas 1985 gig. A studio version of this track is in the BAWL original section of this site.
From the Berlin 1985 gig. This was our Tales of the Unexpected number. It told the story of Carpmael, a man who could see into the future and made himself rich with terrible consequences!
Video edit by Martin Briars
Same audio as above, slightly different video.
This is the encore from the Christmas 1985 Berlin gig. The only two cover versions we ever did - Light My Fire by The Doors and Brand New Cadillac by The Clash.
